“Sanction to the construction of this line by the South Indian Railway Company(SIR) on behalf of the District Board of Ramnad was conveyed .. on 2nd December 1915, but the commencement of work has been postponed owing to the present abnormal conditions arising out of the war”. [1]
The proposed metre gauge(MG) line from Manamadura to Sivaganga would be 12 miles(19km); and it is not clear if this section of the SIR network was ever completed until 2008 when a broad gauge(BG) link was established..
