James Stuart (d. 1793)
Major-General James Stuart (17??-1793) was a British soldier who came to India in 1775 when he was appointed second in command on the Coromandel Coast. He took part in the 2nd Mysore War and was Commander-in-Chief at Madras. Despite his military success he had serious disagreements with the Madras Government and was recalled to Britain.
