Historical Books online

Hi Valmay Comments noted. Maybe you could put this in the instructions, or in a more prominent spot if it's alrady there. Regards Maureene 20:20, 11 January 2010 (PST)

Hi Valmay. Your note of 23 January 2010 refers. Reading the guidelines you quoted http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style#Italics I can see that in some instances I have forgotten to put a book title in italics and this was my error.

In Madras Native Infantry# Historical Books Online my words were: The Company’s Native Army page 14 of Military reminiscences: extracted from a journal of nearly forty years' active service in the East Indies Volume 1 by Colonel James Welsh of the Madras Establishment 1830 Google Books

The guidelines says ‘The titles of articles, chapters, ...and other short works are not italicized, but are enclosed in double quotation marks.’. I can see I omitted to enclose the heading in double quotation marks.

You changed this to: The Company’s Native Army page 14 of Military reminiscences: extracted from a journal of nearly forty years' active service in the East Indies Volume 1 by Colonel James Welsh of the Madras Establishment 1830. Google Books

The only change I can see that you made was that you changed the heading to italics, (which differs from the Wikipedia Manual of Style). However you do not appear to have changed the actual wording.

In 2nd Polygar War my original wording was:The Poligar War in 1801 commences page 51 of Military reminiscences: extracted from a journal of nearly forty years' active service in the East Indies Volume 1 by Colonel James Welsh of the Madras Establishment 1830. Google Books

You noted this was incorrect formatting and changed this to Military reminiscences: extracted from a journal of nearly forty years' active service in the East Indies Volume 1 by Colonel James Welsh of the Madras Establishment 1830. The Poligar War in 1801 commences page 51 of this Google Book.

You also made similar changes in 2nd Maratha War# Historical Books on-line where I had a heading The First Mahrattah War from the same book.

I don’t understand why the wording in the link above in Madras Native Infantry was unchanged, but the latter two were. What was the difference? Given I was linking to a heading why was this incorrect formatting, apart from the fact I omitted to enclose the heading in double quotation marks?

Some of the other changes you have made such as Indigo Plantation I can’t work out what change you have made, so I don’t know what my error was. Regards Maureene 17:22, 24 January 2010 (PST)

User status

I'm not sure if it matters, but I seem to have become a bot and all my edits are being marked in recentchanges as b (for bot)...! Sarah 14:45, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

Hmm,I think I would like to be de-botified(!) as it's prob better for other users to be able to see my edits easily in the recent changes. I prefer the new style refs actually. Looks neater. Sarah 14:10, 17 June 2010 (UTC)

North West Frontier Campaigns

I have now added an article on the Operations in Waziristan 1936-37 which has been added to the Chronological list of North West Frontier Campaigns. The category is titled North West Frontier Campaigns 1849-1908. Could it be changed to North West Frontier Campaigns 1849-1947 please. I don't believe I am allowed to do it. --Sy 08:14, 24 January 2011 (UTC)

Reginald Malpas Gore

I still have not given a category to the Reginald Malpas Gore article. Where shall I put him?--Sy 08:19, 24 January 2011 (UTC)

Thanks Valmay. That looks much better. I have learned one more thing.--Sy 17:31, 2 February 2011 (UTC)

FibiwikiProject Locations/Members

I see David Cooke's post on this page. Do you know how to get in touch with him so we can obtain his photos? --Sy 06:44, 13 November 2011 (PST)
