  • 1824 became 29th Regiment of Madras Native Infantry
  • 1885 became 29th Madras Infantry
  • 1893 became 29th Regiment (7th Burma Battalion) Madras Infantry
  • 1901 became 29th Burma Infantry
  • 1903 became 89th Punjab Regiment
  • 1922 became 1st/8th Punjab Regiment
  • 1947 allocated to Pakistan on Partition
  • 1956 merged with other units to form the Baloch Regiment
