Naini Tal Volunteer Rifles
- 1878 (possibly 1898): formed as the Naini Tal Volunteer Rifles
- 1 April 1917 : reconstituted as an IDF Unit with designation 10th (Naini Tal) Company
- 1 October 1920: renamed The Naini Tal Company [1]
Naini Tal Volunteer Rifles initially included a Mounted Troop which in 1909 amalgamated with the Dehra Dun Mounted Rifles to form the United Provinces 2nd (Northern) Regiment</ref>

Jim Corbett (of Jim Corbett National Park fame) attended Oak Openings Boys High School in Naini Tal[2], and at age 10, c 1885, joined the school’s Cadets, part of the Naini Tal Volunteer Rifles. His experiences are narrated here[3]
