Ceylon Government, Iranaimadu Tank Construction Railway

The Ceylon Government Irrigation Department constructed the 'Iranaimadu Tank' in the Northern Province, Jaffna District from 1907. A 2ft 6in/762mm narrow gauge(NG)line of 2 mile(3.2km) was laid between the site and the Ceylon Government Railway station at Iranaimadu, a further 2 miles at the site with a further 2 miles added as work progressed. The project was finished after 1916 [1].
