Vellore

Vellore is between Madras and Bangalore. It was formally a garrison town for the British Army. Vellore was the scene of the first mutiny in India, in 1806, when sepoys massacred members of H.M. 69th of Regiment Foot who were sick in hospital. There is a well-preserved cemetery in Vellore, and monuments to the British slain.
