Dehra Dun Forestry Tramway

Dehra Dun was the location of the 'British Imperial Forest School', in 1878. In 1906, it was reestablished as the 'Imperial Forest Research Institute', under the British Imperial Forestry Service. The 'Indian Forest College' was established in 1938; officers recruited to the Superior Forest Service by the states and provinces were trained there [1].

The records show that United Provinces Forest Department, Dehra Dun District, Forestry Tramway had been lifted by 1926-27. All the rails, fishplates and stoch were transferred to the Gorakhapur Forestry Tramway Division. It is not known if there ware any locomotives or the gauge[2].
