The 'Jealgore Colliery'was owned by the 'East India Coal Company' [1] with 'Jardine, Skinner & Co' as Managing Agents

The 'Jealgore Colliery' at Dhanbad, 8 km north of Jharia, and situated within Jharia Coal Field, was developed first to supply the railways. [2].

The record shows that a 2ft/610mm narrow gauge(NG) locomotive, dating from 1920 was working at this colliery [1].
