First opened as Calcutta and South Ownership of CESR was transferred to the Government of India([[Government of India |GoI]]) on 1st April 1868. The CPSR was merged into the [[Eastern Bengal Railway]](qvEBR); on 1st July 1884.

Merged into EBR(qv)The ‘[[Calcutta and Diamond Harbour Dock & Railway Co Ltd]]’ was formed in 1845, 1884a survey was undertaken but the construction was delayed. However the Company did not proceed with the construction.
