The '''Madras and Southern Mahratta Railway''' (MSMR) was formed in 1908from the merger of the [[Madras Railway]] and the [[Southern Mahratta Railway]]. Owned by the Government of India (GoI), the running of the railway was handed back to the company of the same name.
== Characteristics ==
The Government GoI took over the management direct control of the MSMR on 1 April 1944. On 14 April 1951, the MSMR , together with the [[South Indian Railway]] and the [[Mysore State Railway]] , became the '''Southern Railway ''' of Indian Railways.
There are no Staff agreements held at the [[British Library]] in the [[India Office Records]].
