In additional to details about the Bengal, Madras and Bombay Armies, which also include Medical Department, Veterinary Department and Ecclesiastical Department details, sections such as Royal Artillery, Royal Engineers and Staff Abroad also contain information about officers in India. From 1904 the title page stated "Containing dates of commissions, and a summary of the war services of nearly every officer in the Army, Supply &c. Departments, Marine and Indian Army, and Indian local forces." Some editions also contain Indian Civil Service Lists, refer [[Directories online#India List and India Office List| Directories online-India List and India Office List]] for a separate list. The earlier editions, approximately prior to the early 1860s contain less information relevant to India. Editions from the early 1860s to 1880 contain information which may not be indexed.
