'''Nellore District Forestry Tramways'''

There were two 2ft/610mm narrow gauge([[Rail_gauge#Narrow_Gauge|NG]]) tramways serving the forestry operations in this district:-
*Tamenapatnam Casuaurina Plantation, used along the seashore within a distance of one to three miles of the Buckingham Canal, initially laid in 1885-86 and by 1902 had 4 miles(13km) of track.
*Sriharikota Island, a barrier island that separates Pulicat Lake from the Bay of Bengal, initially laid in 1889-90 and by 1902 had 5.5 miles(9km) of track <ref name =darvill>“Industrial Railways and Locomotives of India and South Asia” compliled by Simon Darvill. Published by ‘The Industrial Railway Society’ 2013. ISBN 978 1 901556 82-7. Available at http://irsshop.co.uk/India. Reference: Entry AP36 page 70</ref>.

Both the tramways were NG John Fowler type portable lines and mainly on the level except at sand dunes where the gradient could be as high as 1 in 12 <ref name =darvill/>.

Nine miles(14km) of new track was obtained in 1929-31, there is no mention of either system after the 1935-36 annual report <ref name =darvill/>.
