Champdani, Dalhousie Jute Co Railway
The 'Dalhousie Jute Co' at Champdani, Hooghly District was a jute mill for which 'Bird & Company' was the Managing Agent. In 1917 it operated 704 looms [1].
The records show that a 2ft 6in/762mm narrow gauge(NG) railway was in operation at this site. The mill was at the end of a 1¼ mile(2km) branch line between Banshberia and Tribeni stations on the broad gauge(BG) East Indian Railway(EIR)
