Chronology

• 1822 formed as the 14th (Mhairwara) Local Battalion
• 1826 became the 9th (Mhairwara) Local Battalion
• 1824 became 9th Regiment of Bombay Native Infantry
• 1843 became The Mhairwara Local Battalion
• 1861 became The Ajmer and Mhairwara Police Corps
• 1871 became The Mhairwara Battalion
• 1903 became the 44th Mhairwara Regiment, or Merwara Regiment
• 1922 disbanded
