Peshawar Military Tramway
The 'Peshawar Military Tramway' was a 2ft/610mm narrow gauge(NG) bullock hauled Tramway laid in 1902 by the Army Commissariat Department. The Tramway linked the Khyber(or Base) Store Depot, the Moblisation Store Depot, the Ordinance Railway Siding (Fort Balar Hisar), the two fodder presses at Fort Glacis, the Transport Lines at Fort Glacis, No 1 Transport(Mules) Corps Lines and the District Stores Depot. It had 3 wagons, each would carry just over a ton and were hauled by a pair of bullocks. The records show differences of opinion as to the serviceability of the line. It is not known how long the system was in use [1].
