It appears that registration of nurses in India commenced in the 1930’s in the various Provinces and in Burma from 1922. The British Library has two registers of nurses and midwives in Madras for 1940 and 1946, IOR/V/25/851/8 1940 and IOR/V/25/851/9 1946.<br>
