Originally formed as the [[The '''Assam-Bengal Railway Volunteer RiflesBattalion''' were an [[auxiliary regiment]] on under the 23rd January 1901 and then became Bombay command. They comprised staff of the [[42nd Assam -Bengal Railway Battalion]] on the 1st April 1917. Became the Assam Bengal Railway Battalion on the 1st October 1920.
