Originally formed as the 3rd or [[Sind, Punjab and Indus Valley Railways Volunteer Rifle Corps]] on 5th March 1886. In 1888 the designation changed to [[3rd Punjab (The '''North-Western Railway) Volunteer Rifle Corps]] before becoming Battalion''' were an [[North-Western Railway Volunteer Riflesauxiliary regiment]] on 27th July 1892 and then . They comprised staff of the [[24th North-Western Railway Battalion]] on the 1st April 1917. Became [[North-Western Railway Regiment]] on 1st October 1920 and then the North-Western Railway Battalion on 1st April 1933.
