'''General Sir Hector Munro KB (1726-1805) ''' went to India in 1759 as Major in the [[89th Regiment of Foot]]. He suppressed the Mutiny at Patna and won the Battle of Buxar in 1764. He was appointed the ninth [[Commander-in-Chief in India]]. After ten years in England he returned to India and commanded forces against the [[French]] and in the [[2nd Mysore War]]. He led a divsion under [[Eyre Coote]] at the [[Battle of Porto Novo]].
