'''General Sir Dighton MacNaughton Probyn VC, GCB, GCSI, GCVO, ISO (1833–1924)''' was an officer of the British [[East India Company]] who entered the army in 1849. He served on the Yrans-Indus Frontier 1852-57 and in the Punjab Cavalry during the [[Indian Mutiny]]. He was a protege of [[Henry Lawrence]] and served in the [[North West Frontier Province|Northwest Frontier]]. He was Deputy Commissioner of the [[Punjab]] after the [[2nd Sikh War]] and commanded a column in the [[Black Mountain Expedition 1852-53]]. He founded the town of [[Abbottabad]]. He returned to England and died on the Isle of Wight.
