Originally raised on the 2nd May 1861 as the [[2nd Punjab Volunteer Rifle Corps]] or [[Simla Volunteer Rifle Corps]] and became the [[Simla Volunteer Rifles]] in 1904 and the [[4th Simla Rifles]] on 15th April 1917. Became Simla Rifles on 1st October 1920.
