'''Major-General Sir Thomas Munro, 1st Baronet KCB (1761–1827) ''' went to India in 1779 as a cadet in the [[Madras Army]]. He served in the [[2nd Mysore War]] and the [[3rd Mysore War]] and was an administrator in Baramahal and Kanara. After a period in UK he returned to India and commanded the Third Division army in the [[3rd Maratha War]]. He became Governor of Madras in 1820 and died in of cholera in 1827.
