Following the capture of [[Battle of Seringapatam 1799|Seringapatnam ]] Dhoondia Waug, a Maratha leader, was released from prison and, describing himself as King of the Two Worlds, went north where he plundered the countryside. [[Arthur Wellesley ]] pursued him with a field force and eventually defeated him at [[Battle of Conagul|Conagul]].
