In 1872The Record <ref name= Surrender/> shows that this was the only line constructed by the ITC, the Carnatic Railway merged except for a "provisional contract with the [[Great Southern of India Railway]]French Government for making a railway from Pondicheri".
In 1874, From 1 Jan 1868 there was a temporary Guarantee issued by the merged companies were renamed Government of India of 3% of the [[South Indian Railway]](SIR)paid-up capital of £100,000.
