His autobiography ''Hired to Kill, Some Chapters of Autobiography'' was published in 1960. (London, Rupert Hart-Davis ). "Chapter Fifteen, in which he describes how he and his company were ambushed by Mahsud tribesmen on the frontier is a little masterpiece.
