The '''Mysore-Bangalore Railway''', opened 1881-82 . The railway Worked by [[Mysore State]] until 1887, then by [[Southern Mahratta Railway]] (SMR).. In 1893 ownership was transferred to the Government of India and worked by SMR until 1907 when it became part of the [[Madras and Southern Mahratta Railway]]- ‘M&MSR Mysore Section’ In 1919, the [[Mysore State]] successfully sought the reversion of the [[Mysore-Bangalore Railway| ‘Mysore -Bangalore Section’]] and two branch lines, the ‘[[Birur-Shimoga Railway]]’ and the ‘[[Mysore-Nanjangud Railway]]’ became the ‘[[Mysore State Railway]]’(M&SMRMSR) in 1924 <ref name=name> British Library IOR L/>F/8/20/1704‘Contract with the Madras and Southern Mahratta Railway Co.
