The broad gauge([[Rail_gauge#Broad_Gauge|BG]]) from the [[Calcutta]] terminus station at [[Sealdah]] via [[Dum Dum]] and [[Ranaghat]] to [[Poradaha]] opened in 1862 and extended in 1864 to [[Kushtia]].
