Talk:Battle of Buxar

There seems to be a considerable discrepancy between the information in the Wikipedia page on the Battle of Buxar and other sources.
1) Wikipedia quotes Old Style and New Style dates whereas other sources confirm 23 October 1764 (The Indian Mutiny 1857 by David Saul & Sahib by Richard Holmes.
2) Richard Holmes cites British strength as 900 Europeans and 7,000 Sepoys. Wikipedia as 18,000 infantry.
3) Richard Holmes cites opposing strength as 50,000. Wikipedia says 40,000 infantry.
How do we deal with these differences if we are to include Wikipedia as an external link?
