- 1822 formed as the 14th (Mhairwara) Local Battalion
- 1826 became the 9th (Mhairwara) Local Battalion
- 1824 became 9th Regiment of Bombay Native Infantry
- 1843 became The Mhairwara Local Battalion
- 1861 became The Ajmer and Mhairwara Police Corps
- 1871 became The Mhairwara Battalion
- 1903 became the 44th Mhairwara Regiment, or Merwara Regiment
- 1922 disbanded
