The Ranaghat-Murshidabad Branch Railway was a branch of the Eastern Bengal Railway that opened in 1905. it was an extension of the Ranaghat-Bhagwangola Railway that had opened in 1884.
The name of the branch changed as the line progressed and became the Lalgola Ghat Branch Railway in 1907.[1]
The line took- off from the EBR main line at Ranaghat and ran northward through the districts of Nadia and Murshidabad to its terminus at Lalola Ghat on the Ganges. [2]
