The Netravati Bridge opened in July 1907 [1] and carried the broad gauge(BG) ‘Madras Railway’ over the Netravati River to Mangalore to complete the ‘Jalarpet-Mangalore Mainline’.
On 1 Jan 1908 this section was transferred to the ‘South Indian Railway’ and became the ‘SIR Boad Gauge Mainline’.

Netravati Railway Bridge

The river is also named the ‘Ullal River’ in some records [2].

The Bridge

The railway crosses the estuary of the river about 2 miles(3.2km) from its mouth, at this point where it is 6200 feet(1.9 km) wide between its banks [3].

The bridge is 0.83km (2762 feet) long [2].
