Dost Mohammad Khan (1793-1863), was the founder of the Barakzai Dynasty of Afghanistan and ruled as Emir between 1826 and 1842. He was the father of Mohammed Akbar. In the 1st Afghan War he was deposed by the British and went into exile. He was restored to power after the war.

He was chief of the Barakzai tribe and Amir of Ghazni and Kabul. His descendants directly ruled the country until 1929.
