Vijapur-Kalol-Kadi Railway and Bechraji Extension

The Vijapur-Kalol-Kadi Railway was a metre gauge(MG) line completed in 1903 with an opening length of 41 miles(65km). The line was owned by the Princely Baroda State and worked by Bombay, Baroda and Central India Railway(BB&CIR) [1] [2]

The MG line of 41 miles(65km) from Vijapur to Kolol, opened 1902 and reached Kadi in 1903. A 5 mile(8km) extension opened in 1912 from Kadi to Bhoyani Road [1].

A further 21 mile(34km) ‘Bechraji Extension Railway’ from Bhoyani Road to Bechraji was sanctioned in 1916 [3] [1] and completed at sometime before 1921 to complete the connection to the metre gauge Gaekwar's Mehsana Railway’(GMR) at Bechraji.

This gave a total route mileage of 67 miles(108km)

In 1921 the working of this line, together with the GMR, passed from the BB&CIR to the Gaekwar's Baroda State Railway(GBSR)
