The Rewari-Ferozepore Railway was under construction in 1881 with Hugh Lewin Monk of the Public Works Department(PWD) Railways Branch as Engineer-in-Charge [1]. Robert Trefusis Mallet, also from PWD, was the Engineer-in-Chief from 1881 [2].

Note: 'Ferozepore' is given as 'Firozpur' in some documents. We have adopted the spelling given in the "Imperial Gazetteer of India"

Rewari-Ferozepore Railway

The line between Rewari and Ferozepore when completed was apparently divided into two sections :-

The implication is that between Bhatinda and Kot Kapura there were two lines running sde by side - one being the MG BB&CIR line, the other being the BG NWR line. This has not been substantiated but seems to be confirmed by the 1908 Railway Map [5].

In 1900 the jurisdiction of the portion of the Rewari-Ferozepore Railway lying within Jind State was ceded by the Raja of Jind State to the Government of India(GoI) [6]
