The Nagda-Ujjain Railway was an Indian States line, opened in 1896 and joined to the Ratlam-Nagda Railway. The broad gauge(BG) line which linked Nagda to Ujjain had a line length of 32 miles (51km) [1] [2]

The line was worked by Bombay, Baroda and Central India Railway(BB&CIR)

Refer to FIBIS Fact File #4: “Research sources for Indian Railways, 1845-1947” - available from the Fibis shop. This Fact File contains invaluable advice on 'Researching ancestors in the UK records of Indian Railways' with particular reference to the India Office Records (IOR) held at the British Library

An on-line search of the IOR records relating to this railway [3] gives the following: -

  • L/F/8/15/1063 “Bombay, Baroda and Central India Railway Company, Government of His Highness the Maharajah Heads of Agreement for the use of Nagda Station; for the working of the Nagda-Ujjain Railway; for joint use of the line, from 15th July, 1896
