The Palanpur-Deesa Railway was a metre gauge(MG) line from Palanpur to Docan, a short section of 17 miles(27km). The railway was jointly owned by the Palanpur Durbar and Government of India(GoI). The line opened in 1893 and was worked by the Bombay, Baroda and Central India Railway(BB&CIR). [1] [2] [3]

Records

Refer to FIBIS Fact File #4: “Research sources for Indian Railways, 1845-1947” - available from the Fibis shop. This Fact File contains invaluable advice on 'Researching ancestors in the UK records of Indian Railways' with particular reference to the India Office Records (IOR) held at the British Library

An on-line search of the IOR records relating to this railway [4] gives the following: -

  • L/F/7/2210 “Collection 370/54: Railways: Miscellaneous: Palanpur-Deesa Railway, sale of government's financial interest to Palanpur Durbar: 1930-34"
