The line was owned and worked by the Tezpur-Balipara Light Railway Company and linked Tezpur to Balipara a length of 20 miles(32km) and opened in 1894-95. [1]
History
This line was authorised for construction under the Indian Tramways Act, 1886 by the Commissioner of Assam on the 1 June 1895. On the 3 May 1898 sanction was given under this Act. [2].

Indian Railway Classification of 1926 - Class III railway system.
Later History
This NG light railway was still operational in 1950 [3].
