Arthur Koppel & Co
'Arthur Koppel & Co' were first recorded selling railway equipment in India in trade directories in 1896 when their offices were at 31/1 Dalhousie Square, Calcutta. By 1906 they had moved to I Mission Row, Calcutta. From 1907 they regularly advertised in trade journals as being able to supply all types of light railway materials and that their equipment was in use in mills,mines,irigation works, contractors work, forests, brick fields and factories [1].
They were represented by Agents in other parts of India [1]:-
- 'John Fleming & Co' in the Bombay Presidency
- 'Shaw, Wallace & Co' in the Madras Presidency
The business of 'Arthur Koppel & Co' was taken over by 'Orenstein & Koppel' in 1909 following the death of Arthur Koppel [1]
