[[Category:Occupations]] '''Jute ''' is a fibre produced from the bark of the genus corchorus family. The fibre is often referred to as gunny-fibre or hessian. It was a very important export from India and was manufactured in India and Great Britain. Dundee was the UK end of the Indian Jute Trade and the University has a lot of data, including lists of people (mostly Scotsmen) involved in the Jute Trade in India.
