Attock City is a city located off the Grand Trunk (GT) Road in Punjab.


History

It was founded in 1908 as Campbellpur City,according to Wikipedia, as a cantonment. The alternative spelling is Campbellpore. Note however page 3 of the listing Stations of British Troops in India, 7 May 1887, originally stated to be from the Army and Navy Gazette Supplement 1887, shows Campbellpore then in existence as an Army base.


Similar name

It is not to be confused with the town of Attock (or Attock Khurd) on the banks of the River Indus.
