The Tinnevelly-Tiruchendur Railway was first proposed in 1908 to be a metre gauge(MG) line from Tinnevelly to the pilgrimage site at Tiruchendur and to be constructed by the District Board. [1]
There is no evidence that this MG line was constructed.
In 1926 the following is recorded ‘Messers. Parry and Company’s light Railway runs from Tiruchendur to Tissianvilai touching the port of Kulasekarapatnam, which has shipping connection with Colombo and Tuticorin.’ [2]
Parry and Co were a long established trading company with diverse business interests including shipping. [3]
