The Kosamba-Zankhvav Railway opened in 1900 as a 2ft 6in/762mm narrow gauge(NG) railway linking Zankhvav with Kosamba. The railway was owned by the Princely Baroda State

The line was constructed by Gaekwar's Baroda State Railway(GBSR). [1]

An Agreement, dated 6 December 1915 gave the management, administration and working of the line to the Bombay, Baroda and Central India Railway(BB&CIR) [2]
