Synopsis
Leaving Gundamak on 7 September, the army approached the Jugdulluk Pass the following day. They encountered a strong force of Ghilzie tribesmen commanding the heights which were stormed by the 1st Division. Driven back, the enemy took refuge on a high peak but were scattered by two attacking columns. The Ghilzies which had destroyed Elphinstone's army had been comprehensively defeated.
