History
- 1741 raised as Daniel Houghton's Regiment of Foot
- 1751 became the 45th Regiment of Foot
- 1782 became the 45th (the Nottinghamshire) Regiment of Foot
- 1881 united with 95th (Derbyshire) Regiment of Foot to become 1st Battalion, The Sherwood Foresters (Derbyshire Regiment)
- 1902 became The Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Regiment)
- 1970 amalgamated with The Worcestershire Regiment to form The Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters Regiment (29th/45th Foot)
- 2007 amalgamated with with The Cheshire Regiment and The Staffordshire Regiment to form The Mercian Regiment

The author transferred to the 45th Regiment and sailed for India in April 1825, page 197, and subsequently arrived in Rangoon in November 1825 page 217, , see 1st Burma War. After a few years he returned to England and changed regiments again. (Volume 2)
