Originally named the Rajpura-Pattiala Railway, the Rajpura-Bhatinda Railway was a broad gauge(BG) connecting line between Rajpura, to the north-west of Ambala, and the important junction at Bhatinda a distance of 108 miles(172km). The first section opened in 1884 and completed in 1889. The railway was worked by North Western Railway(NWR) [1]
