The Palghat Branch Line was a short 2½ mile(4km) broad gauge(BG) line to Palghat, opened in 1888
The line branched from Palakkad Junction(Olavakode) on the Madras Railway which became the South Indian Railway BG 'Jalarpet-Mangalore Mainline'
The branch was modified in 1932 to mixed gauge by adding a metre gauge(MG) rail [1].
