- 1824 became 17th Regiment of Bombay Native Infantry
- 1885 became 17th Regiment of Bombay Infantry
- 1901 became 17th Bombay Infantry
- 1903 became 117th Mahrattas
- 1922 became 5th Royal Battalion 5th Mahratta Light Infantry
- 1947 allocated to India on Partition
