The Railway track, which extended from Nagpur to Rajnandgaon passed through Tumsar, Gondia and Dongargarh. This railway was also known as '''Chhattisgarh State Railway'''
In 1888 this railway track was purchased from Great Indian Peninsula Railway by Bengal Nagpur Railway(BNR), a company incorporated in 1887, and was converted to broad gauge. Thus marked the beginning of BNR. The Nagpur Chhattisgarh Railway was thus merged into BNR.
