Khost Colliery Tramway - North Western Railway
The 'Khost Colliery', owned by North Western Railway(NWR) opened in 1877 to supply coal for the NWR. The other collieries supplying NWR were the Dandot Colliery and the Sharigh Colliery [1]
The 'Khost Colliery' was situated in the 'Khost-Sharigh-Harnai Coal Belt' some 30-40 mile (48-64km) east of Quetta, and at an altitude ofabout 4,000 feet(1,200 metres). These coal mines were approachable from the Sibi-Zardalu section of the NWR [2].
